Cambridge Colts vs Te Aroha Tornadoes

A Gutsy batting display was the feature of the day as the Te Aroha Tornadoes chased down a daunting total to win yet another encounter at Cambridge on the weekend.
Tornadoes Captain Sam Storey won the toss and sent the Cambridge Colts into bat.
It was a arm wrestle at first as the Tornadoes took wickets at regular intervals but the Colts kept the scoreboard ticking.
Joseph Corrigan (4-14) led the bowling attack and was well supported by Ashton Carter (3-13),Cooper Bell (2-21) backed up in the field by Shelby Nicholls, Charlie Wahanui and Daniel Burgess.
At the end of the 30 overs the Colts had set the Tornadoes a total of 157 for victory.
The Tornadoes were up for the challenge when both openers saw off the imposing Colts’ pace attack with Daniel Watkins(18 no), Ashton Carter (16) and Sam Storey (30) playing positivly and by the 26th over Malcolm Barrow returned to secure victory finishing on (28 no). A comfortable victory at the end for the Tornados.
The Swimzone Te Aroha Play of the day went to Sam Storey for his agressive innings which tipped the balance of the game in Te Arohas favour.
The Tornadoes will hope to keep the winning momentum when they take on Ricoh Cambridge at home, at Te Aroha College.
