This week in Room 1, the students finished their “Life Hacks” project. This was a problem solving project that they really enjoyed. The problem posed to them was, “you’ve just turned eighteen, finished school, and are now either studying or working a close to minimum wage job. How will you survive? (Oh and you aren’t allow help from your parents…)”.
Over the past few weeks, Room 1 students along with the rest of Ruru, have explored the concept of renting, paying bills, working together with flatmates, taxes, groceries and wages. Some have even explored future investments. It has been a wonderful start to the year with Room 1. I hope they have enjoyed this project as much I have enjoyed teaching it. Right now, I imagine they are all sharing their learning with their whanau. They can be proud of what they have achieved so far. Well done Room 1!
